Disney Now Owns ‘Indiana Jones’ Franchise

It appears Disney wasn’t happy with owning just Lucasfilm and the rights to our beloved ‘Star Wars‘, as they recently bought the rights to marketing and distributing future installments of good ol’ Indy, Variety confirms.

Disney actually already had ownership of the rights to ‘Indiana Jones’ after their purchase of Lucasfilm in 2012, but with marketing and distributing right in hand, it’ll make creating and releasing future Indy flicks easier and far more likely. Paramount, however, still owns the rights to the first four films and will “receive financial participation on any future films”.

Disney has not at this time made any announcements about any upcoming movies in the franchise, so don’t expect to see the fedora and bull whip coming to theaters any time soon.
